Who we are

An exciting new café is in town, a hot spot right in the heart of South Melbourne. Located directly across the road from the historic South Melbourne Market, The Coventry offers local specialty coffee, multi-cuisine Mediterranean influenced dishes and high-quality farm to table food.

Our large open space, with live greenery and an earthy vibe, serves as a community hub and multicultural space that specialises in food made with love, and created with passion.

Quality
Coffee

The Coventry offers a rare opportunity to enjoy the exceptional flavour profiles of Cote Terra speciality coffee. The Flying Dutchman blend from Cote Terra is used for milk-based coffees, which brings together the fruit tones of a natural Indian roast, with mellow caramel tones of a Colombian roast. As well as this, we have regular specials, like the current Costa Rican San Marco single origin; naturally processed, with delicious sweet grape and cherry notes.

Mouth-watering Food

For breakfast, you might like to try our French Toast with a quenelle of smoked yoghurt and vanilla infused mascarpone, berries, and crumbed pistachio, or the Rustic Avocado with smashed fetta and a variety of seeds including sunflower, pumpkin, sesame and chia. If you’re after the signature dish, look no further than the Korean Fried Chicken & Waffles, which utilises the freshly made waffles combined with crispy Korean style chicken and a bourbon and maple syrup dressing. For lunch, the Gnocchi a la Noire (made with homemade ink potato gnocchi, chunky porcini mushrooms, chicken and pesto) or a modern Fish & Chips of finely cubed tuna tartare with golden polenta chips will surely satisfy.

About us

Owner, Nick Bourgazas is not new to hospitality, growing up at the local markets, he has owned successful venues such as Piatella and Meat in the Middle in Glen Waverley. The opportunity to open The Coventry opposite the South Melbourne Market offered Nick the chance to return to his childhood stomping ground. The Coventry (named after the street it is located on) is Nick’s vision of a contemporary cafe designed to meet the needs of the area’s multicultural community.
